FAQs

  • Bonded Birds brings tailored permanent jewelry experiences to clients in the Charleston, South Carolina Low-country as well as the Windy City in Chicago, Illinois and their surrounding areas.

    • PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition:

This is a process where a material is vaporized (turned into a gas) and then deposited onto a substrate (the base metal) in a vacuum.

    • Vacuum Coating:

The process takes place in a vacuum chamber, ensuring a clean environment for the gold atoms to deposit.

    • High Temperature:

The process involves high temperatures, which helps the gold atoms adhere strongly to the base metal.

    • Titanium Nitride:

Often, a thin layer of titanium nitride, a hard and durable compound, is applied before the gold layer.

    • Durable and Vibrant Finish:

Gold PVD coating provides a durable, scratch-resistant, and vibrant gold finish that resists tarnishing and corrosion.

    • More Affordable than Solid Gold:

While solid gold is more valuable, PVD offers a way to achieve a similar aesthetic at a more affordable price.
